WHAT IS IN VAPING?
Aside from the simplest forms of the Disposables, Open/Closed Pod System or even All in Ones - users may opt to have a setup that includes the various components - but in a separated manner. Essentially, that would mean:
- A Device
- A Tank
- Coils to heat and vaporize the liquid (these usually are made for that tank)
- A battery of set of, if a battery is not built in
- Battery charger (unless the battery is built in)
- Eliquid of choice based on the coil type (see more in eliquid part)
While this may seem too confusing, starting off with a basic device such as a Disposable or a Pod System - would be advisable. Essentially, you will need to get used to vaping as it simulates smoking and will require a mindset to help you get used to it. Delving into complex and large setups now would only confuse you, give you a wrong impression and ultimately become too expensive.
All the above are essential components and are present in one shape or another.
TYPES OF VAPING:
MTL Vs DL
This basically means Mouth to Lung vs Direct Lung. MTL is more associated will less vapor, higher concentration of nicotine and would emulate a tighter draw like a cigarette. DL is a wider draw, denser vape and would be comparable to a Hookah or Shisha experience.
Devices, coils and kits will be available based on the vaping experience desired. Some may do both. The device and coil will play a key role as MTL will require less power but a higher resistance in the heating element - vs. DL which typically requires more power and a lower resistance in the heating element.
Most smokers will tend to go towards MTL. However, the choice is entirely yours and the guesswork or what, how and which resistance is now far simpler to understand. For example, 90% of Disposables and Pod Systems are geared towards MTL. While, Starter Kits and mix and match setups can be geared towards DL or MTL. As you progress through your vaping journey, you will easily discover what these means and how to find the one that best suits you!

TYPES OF ELIQUID
There are two forms of eliquid. Freebase (or regular) and Saltnic. Basically, the regular is made for denser clouds and contains nicotine levels from 0 to as high as 20MG. Nicotine can be pure or synthetic. Saltnic is the natural state of nicotine and made specifically for higher doses but without the throat irritation. Saltnic is typically found in all prefilled pods and disposables.
WHATS IN THE LIQUID
Eliquid in any form is made of the following basic food grade ingredients:
- VG (Vegetable glycerine)
- PG (Propylene Glycol)
- Natural and/or Artificial flavoring
Nicotine and flavouring are easy enough to understand, but VG and PG are important to the overall vaping experience. The ratio of VG to PG sets the viscosity of the liquid and as such the temperature needed to vaporize it. It also determines the most suitable tanks and coils to vape with. That ratio can also decide how intense the physical sensation of inhaling will be. More VG produces more vapour and a smoother hit. More PG in the mix delivers better flavour but may also increase the throat hit sensation - especially if you are using regular liquid with higher nicotine - for example 6/9 or even 12MG.
You’ll want to experiment a bit and try different ratios to work out what’s best for your vaping palate. Generally, most regular liquids come with a VG/PG ratio of 70/30. Because these are natural ingredients, certain people may have allergic reactions or nausea when the VG ratio is high. You may therefore need to find an alternative ratio like 60/40 or 50/50. Saltnic liquid will typically be 50/50 or even up to 70/30.
